Origin
Brasilicactus haselbergii is a cactus species that occurs naturally in Brazil. It is mainly found in the southeast of the country, in areas with rocky soil. The species is adapted to a relatively warm and dry climate. This cactus is also known as Parodia haselbergii.

Characteristics
Brasilicactus haselbergii develops a globular to short cylindrical stem, which is usually bright green in colour. The plant regularly forms ribs with spines ranging from white to reddish in colour. During the growing season, the cactus produces striking, bright red to orange-red flowers at the top of the stem. The flowers are funnel-shaped and can reach several centimetres in diameter.

Care
Brasilicactus haselbergii requires a sunny position and is highly drought-tolerant. During the growing season, the plant should be watered moderately, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, the cactus rests at lower temperatures with very limited watering. The species grows best in an airy, well-draining cactus potting soil.
