Origin
The Rhipsalis baccifera 'Cassutha', also known as Mistletoe Cactus, is a member of the Cactaceae family and originally hails from parts of Central and South America. However, the plant has adapted to various environments and can now be found worldwide, ranging from the rainforests of South America to heights in the Himalayas.
Characteristics
Characteristic of the Rhipsalis baccifera 'Cassutha' are the long, hanging, green stems that grow as vines on the plant. Small white flowers can form on these stems, which turn into small, juicy, red fruits when ripe. It is an epiphytic plant, meaning it grows on the surface of other plants and gets its nutrients and water from the air, rain or surrounding debris.
Care
Although the Rhipsalis baccifera 'Cassutha' is a cactus, it does not require intense sunlight and prefers shaded to semi-shaded spots. Pay attention to the watering, as the topsoil must dry out before the plant receives more water. In general, this cactus species requires high humidity rather than a lot of water. In terms of temperature, the plant can handle room temperature, but prefers a temperature between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius.
