Origin
The Dracaena Silver Dream originates from the tropical regions of Africa and Asia, specifically from Madagascar and the Indian Ocean. The plant belongs to the Asparagaceae family and is also known by the name Dragon Tree.
Characteristics
The Dracaena Silver Dream has long, feathered leaves that are generally green, and can grow up to two metres high under ideal conditions. The plant has a slender trunk and the leaves display characteristic white stripes or spots. Interestingly, the Dracaena Silver Dream houseplant belongs to the category of air-purifying plants.
Care
The Dracaena Silver Dream requires very little maintenance and can survive well in both clear indirect light and in low light conditions, but does not tolerate direct sunlight. The soil should always be slightly damp, but too much water can cause root rot, so overwatering should be avoided. The optimal temperature for the plant is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, but it can withstand temperatures as low as 12 degrees. Like other members of the Dracaena family, it is not necessary to prune this houseplant, but this will help promote a fuller appearance.
