Origin
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra' is a plant species that originally comes from the humid rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador in South America. The plant belongs to the family of the Araceae, also known as the Arum family. The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra' is specifically named after Édouard François André, a French botanist who brought different types of anthuriums to Europe in the 19th century.

Characteristics
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra' is renowned for its impressive, heart-shaped leaves that shine in the light. The plant also produces striking flowers, also known as spathes, which can be a vivid red or pink in colour. These flowers are surrounded by a green bract. The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra' can grow up to approximately 60 centimeters tall and blooms throughout the year, peaking in the summer months.
