DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Dracaena fragrans 'Malaika' is a variant of a plant species from the Dracaena genus. This genus is mainly found in Africa, Southern Asia, and Central America. In addition, this specific variant is also known as the Dragon tree. The name 'Malaika', which means 'angel', stems from Swahili, a language mainly spoken in East Africa.

Characteristics
The Malaika distinguishes itself by its attractive, green and glossy leaves. These can grow up to 60cm long, while the whole plant can reach a maximum height of two metres. The leaves form at the top of the stem, providing an ornate outward-growing appearance. The Malaika further differentiates itself with its air-purifying qualities.

Care
The Dracaena fragrans 'Malaika' is an easy plant to care for. The plant prefers a light to semi-shaded spot without direct sunlight and likes a constant temperature, preferably between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius. In general, the plant doesn't have many requirements with regard to humidity, but regular spraying with water can certainly contribute to maintaining its shiny leaves. It is advisable to only moderately water the plant: the soil needs to dry first before the plant is watered again, to avoid root rot. Furthermore, the Malaika is known for its slow growth. Therefore, fertilising is only necessary after several years.
