Origin
The Pleomele (Dracaena) reflexa 'Song of India' is a plant species from the Asparagaceae family, originally from Madagascar, Mauritius and other islands of the Indian Ocean. It has spread to various tropical and subtropical areas around the world over the centuries.

Characteristics
The 'Song of India' is characterised by its varied green and yellow leaves, which become narrower towards the tip. It usually grows as a branched shrub, sometimes as a small tree. The plant can grow up to 4 metres in height, but its growth can be controlled by pruning. The plant rarely produces flowers with indoor care.

Care
The 'Song of India' requires a bright location, but should not be placed directly in the sun. The plant grows well at temperatures between 18 and 30 degrees Celsius and needs to be watered regularly, without standing in stagnant water. The plant is sensitive to dry air and therefore should be kept in a humid environment. If the plant is kept in a pot, it is recommended to replace the soil every two to three years and to fertilise periodically.
