Origin

Its natural habitat is characterised by a humid and warm climate.

Characteristics
The Aeschynanthus marmoratus is an epiphytic plant, meaning it grows on other plants without parasitising them. The plant is characterised by its long, fleshy leaves with marble-like patterns. The leaves are usually green with varying amounts of silver, grey or cream-coloured patterns. The name 'lipstick plant' comes from the bright red flowers the plant produces, which resemble extended lipsticks from a tube.

Care
The care of the Aeschynanthus marmoratus requires high humidity and plenty of indirect sunlight. The plant needs regular watering, but only after the top layer of the soil is dry to prevent root rot. Good draining soil is essential. The plant does not need to be fertilised regularly; once a month during the growing season is sufficient.
