Origin
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Cirano', more commonly known as the Flamingo plant, originates from the humid, shadowy rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador. This plant is named after Edouard André, a 19th century French botanist who dedicated much of his career to studying tropical plants.

Characteristics
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Cirano' is a striking pot plant with glossy, heart-shaped leaves and distinctive spathaceous flowers. These flowers can vary in colour from bright red to pink and white. They contrast sharply against the dark green foliage and remain very long lasting as cut flowers. The plant averages 40 to 60 cm in height, but can grow larger under ideal conditions.

Care
To thrive, the Anthurium andraeanum 'Cirano' prefers a bright location, away from direct sunlight. The plant has a high need for moisture, but at the same time overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot. It is also important to allow the soil to dry out between waterings. The ideal temperature for this species is between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to regularly feed the plant with a fertiliser for flowering indoor plants.
