Origin
The Dracaena fragrans 'Lemon Surprise' has its original roots in Africa, Central America and Asia. Although the species occurs in several parts of the world, it is most typical of the tropical, forested areas there.

Characteristics
The 'Lemon Surprise' has wide, shiny green leaves that have a yellow edge, giving the plant its unique appearance. The leaves curl slightly and bend gracefully outwards. This variety of Dracaena fragrans grows relatively slowly, and under optimal conditions, this plant can reach a height of up to 1.80 metres.

Care
The 'Lemon Surprise' requires a bright to semi-shady place to thrive, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent damage to the leaves. Apart from light, this plant is also quite tolerant when it comes to temperature and humidity. Watering should be done in moderation - only once every two weeks, or when the top layer of the soil feels dry. Overwatering should be avoided, because this can cause root rot. Finally, the 'Lemon Surprise' requires minimal fertilisation; a light dose of liquid fertiliser during the growing season is sufficient.
