Origin
The Monstera obliqua 12/tray, also known as the 'Swiss Cheese Plant', originates from the tropical rainforests of South America. Here they grow as so-called epiphytic plants, which means they climb trees without parasitising them. This makes them unique species within the Araceae family, primarily consisting of plants that naturally thrive in the humid, tropical climate of Central and South America.

Characteristics
The Monstera obliqua is best known for its distinctive, heart-shaped leaves with natural holes or openings, which increase as the plant ages. The 'Swiss Cheese Plant' can grow to a height of two to three metres under optimal conditions, but often stays smaller when cultivated at home. It is a fast-growing plant, impressing with its vibrant green colour and exotic appearance. The standard pot size for the Monstera obliqua 12/tray is 12 cm in diameter.

Care
The Monstera obliqua has relatively low light requirements and does well in both shady and indirect sunlight. As a tropical plant, it requires high humidity levels and regular watering, but does not like overly wet soil. In winter, watering can be reduced, while during the growing season the plant should be fed regularly with a general houseplant fertiliser. The plant tends to turn towards the light, so regular rotation is necessary to promote even growth.
