Origin
The Euphorbia stenoclada originates from Madagascar, where the plant predominantly grows in the dry regions of the island. There, the plant develops in semi-desert-like environments where it has adapted to extreme weather conditions. The plant can now also be seen in botanical gardens and nurseries around the world.

Characteristics
The Euphorbia stenoclada has a unique appearance that sets it apart from many other plants. The plant has an upright growth habit, with thin, ribbed and silver-grey coloured stems that give the plant a sculptural appearance. Instead of leaves, the Euphorbia stenoclada has protruding thorns on the stems. The plant has small, yellow flowers that bloom in clusters at the ends of the stems.

Care
Euphorbia stenoclada requires relatively little maintenance, given its adaptability to dry conditions. The plant needs well-draining soil and should be placed in an environment with plenty of sunlight. Although it can tolerate some amounts of water, overwatering should be avoided as this can lead to root rot. During the winter months, it is necessary to protect the plant from freezing cold, as it is not frost tolerant.
