Origin
The Anthurium Minnesota, also known as the Flamingo Flower, originates from the tropical rainforests of South and Central America. The plant is part of the Araceae family, which counts more than 1000 different types. It is named after Eduard Francois André, a 19th-century French botanist specialised in growing and describing tropical plants.
Characteristics
The Anthurium Minnesota has specific characteristics that distinguish it from other members of the Anthurium family. The plant has shiny, dark green leaves and striking, heart-shaped flowers. These flowers, often mistaken for the petals, vary in colour from red to pink, white, and even greenish. The real flowers are the small spots that develop on the fleshy, upright spike in the middle of the flower.
Care
The care of the Anthurium Minnesota requires an environment with high humidity and plenty of indirect light. The plant feels best at temperatures between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. Watering should be done regularly, but the soil should not stay damp; good drainage is essential. The plant also appreciates a monthly fertilization with a specific Anthurium fertiliser.
