Phalaenopsis 'Ambon'

Product number : F00001252
DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Phalaenopsis 'Ambon' belongs to the Phalaenopsis genus, which is naturally found in Southeast Asia, particularly in countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. The name 'Ambon' refers to the Indonesian island of Ambon, where various Phalaenopsis species originally occur. This orchid is the result of selective breeding within the Phalaenopsis genus. The Phalaenopsis 'Ambon' is offered exclusively through growers and garden centres.

Characteristics
The Phalaenopsis 'Ambon' is a pot plant with broad, leathery leaves and a sturdy flower stem. The flowers are white to pale yellow, often with a soft red or pink pattern on the lip. The flower shape is characteristically butterfly-like, as with all Phalaenopsis species. This variety has a long-lasting flowering period, which can continue for several months. The plant reaches a height of approximately 40 to 60 centimetres.

Care
The Phalaenopsis 'Ambon' grows best at a constant room temperature between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius. A light position without direct sunlight is ideal. The plant is usually grown in special orchid potting soil based on bark. Water should be given when the substrate is almost dry, usually once a week. Feed is generally applied every two weeks during the growing period.
