DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Peperomia Sarcophylla is native to the tropical climate of South America and belongs to the Piperaceae family. This plant species is mainly found in the rainforests of Ecuador and Peru, where it grows in the undergrowth, protected by higher vegetation.

Characteristics
Characteristic of the Peperomia Sarcophylla are the thick, ribbed leaves that are a deep, glossy green colour. The leaves often have a red underside and a heart-shaped base. The plant has small blossoms that develop into long, erect inflorescence that resemble rat's tails. Generally, the plant remains relatively small, usually reaching a height of no more than 30 cm.

Care
The Peperomia Sarcophylla requires well-draining potting soil and an environment with high air humidity. It should be placed in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight, as this can damage the leaves. It is recommended to water the plant sparingly and to let it dry out between watering. It is also a good strategy to re-pot the plant annually in spring in order to stimulate healthy growth.
