Origin
The Phalaenopsis Multiflora Flora BO Collection mix, better known as the butterfly orchid, originally hails from Southeast Asia and Australia. The plant finds its origin in the humid, warm rainforests and favours a tropical climate. The name Phalaenopsis comes from the Greek, 'phalaina' meaning moth and 'opsis' meaning appearance, which refers to the shape of the flowers.
Characteristics
The Phalaenopsis Multiflora distinguishes itself by its compact size and the number of small flowers that bloom at the same time. The plant usually has two long, fleshy leaves that grow from a central growth point. The flowers vary in colour from white, pink to purple, sometimes also in the form of a mix of these. A distinguishing feature is that the flowers grow on a straight stem, giving the plant a striking and graceful appearance.
Care
The Phalaenopsis Multiflora has specific care needs that match its tropical origin. The plant requires a lot of light, but avoid direct sunlight as this can burn the leaves. The optimal temperature is between 20 to 22 degrees Celsius during the day and around 16 degrees at night. Prevent the plant from standing in stagnant water to avoid root rot. Finally, feed the Phalaenopsis Multiflora with special orchid food for healthy growth and flowering.
