Origin
The Phalaenopsis Astrid, known as the star orchid, originates from Asia and Australia. Despite being an exotic plant, it is now a popular houseplant in many parts of the world. They grow in various climates, from tropical rainforests to desert fringes and cool highlands. They are also commonly found in the forests of the Philippines and Indonesia.
Characteristics
The Phalaenopsis Astrid is known for its large, elegant flowers. This orchid typically blooms in the winter and early spring and the flowers can last up to three months. The flowers of this species range from white to purple, depending on the specific variety. It has broad, fleshy leaves that are green in colour.
Care
The Phalaenopsis Astrid requires specific care to thrive. They need indirect sunlight and the room they are in must be warm and humid. It is important to water the plant regularly, but only after the soil has almost completely dried out. It is also recommended to fertilize the plant once a month with a fertiliser specifically designed for orchids.
