Origin
The Medinilla magnifica 'Flamenco', better known as the 'Pink lantern plant', has its origin in the Philippines. It mainly grows in the tropical rainforest, where it settles in the crowns of trees. Despite its tropical origin, this plant has adapted and now also survives in domestic conditions.

Characteristics
The Medinilla magnifica 'Flamenco' is a striking plant because of its unique and eye-catching flowers. These consist of pink, hanging clusters that bloom for a long period, usually from late spring to early summer. The plant has large, shiny leaves that form a beautiful backdrop for the striking flowers. The plant can reach a height of about 60 to 80 cm.

Care
Taking care of the Medinilla magnifica 'Flamenco' requires some attention. The plant likes a warm, bright place, but direct sunlight should be avoided. The plant also needs to be watered regularly, with excess water well drained to prevent root rot. To stimulate growth, it is recommended that the plant be fertilised monthly during the growing period with a potassium-rich fertiliser. The height of the plant and the size of the leaves make it necessary to regularly prune and support the plant.
