Origin
Caryota mitis originates from Southeast Asia, particularly from countries such as India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. This plant belongs to the palm family (Arecaceae). In the wild, Caryota mitis predominantly grows in tropical forests and humid areas. The species has been introduced worldwide as an ornamental plant, especially for indoor use.

Characteristics
Caryota mitis is a multi-stemmed palm with a compact growth habit. The leaves are pinnate and have a distinctive triangular shape, resembling a fish tail. Indoors, the plant can reach several metres in height. The leaf stalks are lightly hairy, and the colour ranges from light to dark green. The trunk is relatively slender compared to other palms.

Care
Caryota mitis requires a bright spot without direct sunlight. Regular, moderate watering helps to keep the soil lightly moist. The plant thrives best with high humidity and a consistently warm temperature. Excess water in the pot should be avoided to prevent root rot. During the growing season, palm fertiliser can be applied as needed.
