Origin
The Caryota mitis is a tropical plant species native to Southeast Asia. This palm mainly grows in countries such as India, Malaysia, Thailand, and parts of Indonesia. In its natural environment, the species is primarily found in humid, shady forests.
Characteristics
Caryota mitis is a multi-trunked palm with distinct, fish-tail shaped leaves. The leaves are compound and have a characteristic triangular, feather-like structure. The plant can reach several metres in height when given enough space and optimal conditions. The trunk of the palm grows in clusters, resulting in a dense, bushy appearance.
Care
Caryota mitis prefers a bright position without direct sunlight. A constant temperature between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius is recommended. Regular watering is essential, ensuring the potting soil remains slightly moist. Humidity should be kept relatively high to support optimal growth.
