Origin
The Trachycarpus fortunei originates from Central and East Asia. This species naturally grows in mountainous regions of China, northern India, Myanmar, and Japan. Due to its adaptability, it has been introduced to various countries with a temperate climate. The species has become popular in Europe because of its frost-resistant properties.

Characteristics
Trachycarpus fortunei is an evergreen palm with a strikingly fibrous trunk. Its leaves are fan-shaped, divided into several narrow segments, and can reach up to 75 centimetres in width. The trunk can grow up to 12 metres tall under ideal conditions. The plant produces small yellow flowers in hanging clusters. Mature specimens develop a thick, hairy trunk due to the persistence of old leaf bases.

Care
Trachycarpus fortunei tolerates temperatures down to around -18 degrees Celsius, allowing it to be placed outdoors in temperate climates. The palm grows best in well-draining, moist soil. Regular watering is necessary, especially during dry periods. The plant prefers a position in partial shade to full sun. Consistent watering and protection from strong winds promote healthy growth.
