Origin
The Citrus calamondin, also known as calamondin orange, has its origin in Southeast Asia. This elegant citrus tree is mainly found in the Philippines and surrounding areas. The calamondin is a hybrid of the mandarin and kumquat, which accounts for its unique fruit and strong adaptability to various environments.

Characteristics
The Citrus calamondin is a compact and evergreen tree that can grow up to 7.5 metres high. The leaves are dark green and shiny, while the flowers are bright white and produce a strong, sweetly smelling blossom. The characteristic fruit of the calamondin is small, round and orange when ripe, with a sharp, tart-orange flavour.

Care
Caring for a Citrus calamondin requires a light location, but avoid direct sunlight in the hot summer months to prevent leaf burn. Watering should be regular but moderate, with slight drying of the soil in between watering sessions. The plant grows best at temperatures between 12 and 25 °C and needs mildly acidic soil, ideally a mix of regular potting soil and cactus or citrus potting soil.
