Origin
The Malus 'Evereste' is a variety from the Rosaceae family and is also known as the ornamental apple. This plant is indigenous to the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. The 'Evereste' was specifically created in 1974 by the French institute INRA as a cross between Malus baccata and Malus 'Golden Hornet'.

Characteristics
The Malus 'Evereste' is a small, densely branched tree with a round, dense crown. The leaves are shiny green, oval and have a rounded base. In spring, the ornamental apple bears large white flowers, which eventually develop into small, red apples. A remarkable characteristic of the 'Evereste' is that these apples can stay attached to the tree until winter.

Care
Although the Malus 'Evereste' is not particularly demanding in terms of care, it performs best in a sunny to slightly shady location. The soil should be fertile, permeable and slightly acidic to neutral. Regular watering is recommended during dry periods to prevent the roots from drying out. Pruning can take place in late winter or early spring, during which dead and overlapping branches should be removed.
