Yucca rostrata (150-180)
Product number : 5YURORS85Origin
The Yucca rostrata, also known as the Beaked Yucca, has its origin in the desert areas of Northern Mexico and West Texas. The heights and the dry conditions of these areas provide the perfect environment for this tough, winter-hardy plant.
Characteristics
The Yucca rostrata is a unique, tree-like succulent that can grow up to 15 feet tall. The trunk of this plant is cylindrical and covered with dead leaves for protection. At the top of the trunk grows a compact crown of blue-grey, rigid leaves that resemble sword points. During blooming, long, overhanging flower stems with white, bell-shaped flowers appear.
Care
The Yucca rostrata requires minimal care and is very tolerant of drought, making it ideal for dry or rock gardens. The plant prefers full sun, but can also survive in light shade. It is important to ensure that the soil is well-draining to prevent root rot. Although this plant is resistant to low temperatures, it should be protected from wet, cold winters to prevent freezing.
