Origin
Arenaria montana 'Blizzard Compact' belongs to the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae). The species Arenaria montana is native to the mountainous regions of southwestern Europe, particularly the Iberian Peninsula. The cultivar 'Blizzard Compact' has been selected for its compact growth and abundant flowering. This selection was developed for use in gardens and public green spaces.

Characteristics
Arenaria montana 'Blizzard Compact' is an evergreen perennial. The plant forms low, dense cushions with small, lance-shaped leaves. During the flowering period, usually in spring, numerous pure white flowers with five petals appear. The flowers are strikingly large in proportion to the plant, with a diameter of around 2 centimetres. The growth habit is ground-covering and compact, with a maximum height of approximately 10 to 15 centimetres.

Care
Arenaria montana 'Blizzard Compact' prefers a position in full sun to partial shade. The plant prefers well-drained, slightly dry to moderately moist soil. It does not tolerate overly wet conditions. The species is fully hardy and requires little maintenance. Regular removal of spent flowers will enhance its ornamental value.
