Origin
The Arenaria montana Blizzard Compact, also known as Mountain Sandwort, is originally from the mountainous areas of Southern Europe. This mainly concerns the Pyrenees, the Alps and the Balkans, where this robust plant has good access to plenty of sunlight and well-drained soils.
Characteristics
The Arenaria montana Blizzard Compact is a permanent, evergreen plant that grows compactly. This low-lying plant has a height of about 10 cm and a width up to 40 cm with small, linear, dark green leaves. From late spring to early summer, this ornamental plant produces abundant white, star-shaped flowers.
Care
The Arenaria montana Blizzard Compact prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Although this plant is drought-tolerant, it performs best with regular watering during the drier months. An annual application of general garden fertiliser in early spring can help promote flowering and general plant health. This plant is reasonably hardy and can tolerate low temperatures.
