Origin
The Aubrieta Axcent Lilac belongs to the Brassicaceae family and has its origin in Southern Europe. The plant is named after Claude Aubriet, a French flower painter. The species naturally grows in rocky areas from Southern Europe to Central Asia.
Characteristics
The Aubrieta Axcent Lilac is a ground-covering, perennial plant known for its abundant, lilac flowers in the spring. The plant reaches a height of about 10-15 centimetres and spreads widely. The leaf is small, oval and of a grey-green colour. The plant blooms from March to May, producing small, four-flowered blossoms with a noticeable, lilac purple colour.
Care
This plant has few care requirements and is very suitable for rock gardens, borders and walls. It prefers a sunny location, but can also tolerate partial shade. The soil must be well-draining and should not be too moist, to prevent root rot. The Aubrieta Axcent Lilac is generally frost-hardy and can survive the cold winter months. After flowering, the plant can be pruned to maintain a compact shape and promote blooming in the next season.
