Origin
The Thymus x citriodorus 'Aureus', also known as Lemon Thyme, is a plant species that originates from the Mediterranean area. This plant belongs to the Lamiaceae family and has been able to spread to many parts of the world thanks to its adaptability and robustness.

Characteristics
The Thymus x citriodorus 'Aureus' is a low-growing, semi-evergreen perennial plant, with a height of about 10 to 30 cm. The leaves of the plant have a striking golden yellow colour, hence the nickname 'Aureus'. The plant is also characterised by its strong lemon scent and small, pink to lilac flowers that bloom in the late spring or early summer.

Care
The Thymus x citriodorus 'Aureus' is a relatively low-maintenance plant that thrives in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Although the plant is drought-tolerant, it responds well to regular watering during dry periods. Annual pruning after flowering promotes compact growth and helps prevent wood formation. Lastly, the plant prefers a sandy or rocky soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.
