Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus', also known as the 'Gracillimus' Silver Grass, is a decorative grass species that originates from East Asia. It is particularly common in China, Japan and Korea. In these areas, this plant grows in open, dry to moist, well-drained places.
Characteristics
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' can be recognised by its narrow, graceful and richly blooming leaves. These leaves turn a bright green in spring and change to a beautiful golden yellow in the autumn. The plant is characterised by its elegant, stately appearance and can reach a height of 150 to 200 centimetres. From August to November, the plant bears attractive white flower plumes.
Care
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' requires little maintenance. The plant prefers a place in full sun, but can also do well in partial shade. Although the plant is well resistant to drought, regular watering is recommended during dry periods. Fertilisation is best done in the spring. Annual pruning of the plant in March ensures that the plant can flourish again in the following season.
