Origin
The Campanula isophylla Berlin Bicolor, also known as the star bellflower, has its roots in Northern Italy. The plant has a long history and is originally a small rock-dwelling plant that spread on the stony slopes of the Alps.
Characteristics
The Campanula isophylla Berlin Bicolor is a unique variety due to its two-toned flowers. The flowers are striped in white and blue and have a star-like appearance, hence the nickname star bellflower. The plant is a hanging plant and reaches a maximum height of 30 centimetres.
Care
The Berlin Bicolor requires a lot of light but cannot tolerate full sun. The plant is not frost-resistant and is best kept as a pot plant. Water should be applied sparingly and the soil needs to be able to dry out between watering. Yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering. The plant blooms from May to October and it is advisable to fertilise regularly during the blooming period.
