Origin
Campanula portenschlagiana 'Porto' is a cultivar of the Campanula portenschlagiana species. This species originates from the Alps and the Dinaric Alps in Central and Southern Europe. 'Porto' was developed for its attractive growth habit and abundant flowering, and is widely used in ornamental gardens.

Characteristics
Campanula portenschlagiana 'Porto' is a low-growing, evergreen perennial. The plant has a cushion-like growth habit and reaches a height of approximately 10 to 15 centimetres. The leaves are small, fresh green and slightly glossy. During the flowering period, from May to July, an abundance of star-shaped, violet-blue flowers appear. The plant is suitable as a ground cover and thrives in rock gardens, wall crevices and borders.

Care
Campanula portenschlagiana 'Porto' prefers a sunny to semi-shaded position. The plant grows well in well-drained, humus-rich soil. Regular watering during dry periods is advisable for healthy growth. The plant is frost hardy and can be left outdoors throughout the year. Any faded flowers can be removed to encourage further flowering.
