Molinia caerulea 'Edith Dudszus'
F00003935
Origin
The Sesleria nitida is a grass species originating from the mountainous regions of Southwestern Europe. This green plant is particularly common in Portugal and Spain. Despite its European origin, it can now be found worldwide due to its popularity in horticulture. Also known as Blue Moor Grass, in Dutch it's often referred to as 'Blaauwe Sesleria'.
Characteristics
The Sesleria nitida is characterised by its tightly bushy growth, which has the shape of a dome. This plant species often reaches a height of 30 to 50 cm. The leaves are narrow and long, and have a bright blue to grey-green colour that gives the plant its unique appearance. Blooming takes place from April to June, with slender flower spikes protruding above the foliage.
Care
The care of the Sesleria nitida requires some attention. The plant prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location with well-drained, slightly moist soil. It is advisable to prune the plant back in the spring to stimulate the growth of new foliage. It's important to watch out for dehydration, as the plant does not tolerate drought well.
