Origin
The Armeria pseudarmeria 'Ballerina' mix is a member of the Plumbaginaceae plant family. The plant originates from the coastal regions of Western Europe, where it can survive under various climatic conditions.
Characteristics
Armeria pseudarmeria 'Ballerina' is a unique species due to its compact growth form and long, narrow leaves. The flowers produced by this plant come in various colours, including pink, white, and purplish-red, hence the addition of 'mix' in the name. These flowers are spherical and stand on long stems, making them prominently visible above the leaves. The plant reaches a height of approximately 30 centimetres and a width of 30 centimetres.
Care
The Armeria pseudarmeria 'Ballerina' mix prefers well-draining soil and a location in full sun or partial shade. Despite its maritime origin, the plant is hardy and can withstand temperatures down to -15°C. Annual fertilisation in the spring enhances the abundant flowering of this plant. Although the plant is relatively drought-tolerant, it is advised to provide extra water during prolonged dry periods.
