Origin
The Erica x darleyensis 'Ghost Hills' is a species of plant that has originated from the crossbreeding of two varieties of heathers, namely the Erica carnea and the Erica erigena. The plant is named after the location of the crossbreeding, which took place in the hills around Darley Dale in Derbyshire, United Kingdom.

Characteristics
The 'Ghost Hills' is noticeable for its attractive winter flowering, with flowers that range from deep pink in the bud to white at full bloom. This sturdy, evergreen shrub has needle-like foliage that is light grey to green in colour. In height, the bush can reach between 30 and 60 centimetres with a width of approximately 75 centimetres and has a compact, spreading growth habit.

Care
The Erica x darleyensis 'Ghost Hills' thrives best in a location with full sun to partial shade. It prefers acidic, well-draining soils. Although this hardy plant can tolerate some drought, it is advisable to water it during drier periods. Blue Hills requires little maintenance and can easily be kept in shape by light pruning after flowering.
