Characteristics
Sesleria caerulea is a perennial plant with a compact, tuft-forming growth habit. The leaves are blue-green and narrow. The plant reaches a height of approximately 20 to 30 centimetres. In spring, dense, spike-shaped flower heads appear with a subtle grey-purple hue.
Care
Sesleria caerulea thrives best in well-drained, chalky soil. The preferred location is sunny to semi-shaded. The plant is drought-tolerant and can withstand temperatures well below freezing. Under suitable conditions, it remains decorative for several years.
