Origin
Arachniodes aristata 'Variegata' is a cultivar of the original Arachniodes aristata. The species is native to the forests of East Asia, where it mainly grows in moist, shady mountainous regions. It belongs to the Dryopteridaceae family. In Europe, this plant is often used as an ornamental plant in shaded gardens.

Characteristics
Arachniodes aristata 'Variegata' is an evergreen fern with striking, variegated fronds. The finely divided fronds display a green colour with cream to yellow margins. The plant reaches a height of approximately 40 to 60 centimetres. The foliage remains decorative throughout the year and the plant develops a dense, bushy growth habit. The plant is also known as the variegated East Indian holly fern.

Care
Arachniodes aristata 'Variegata' grows best in a shady to partially shaded position. A humus-rich, moisture-retentive and well-draining soil is preferred. The plant does not tolerate prolonged drought. Regular watering and protection from intense midday sun support healthy growth. Winter protection is generally not necessary in a temperate climate.
