Origin
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Overdam' is a cultivar of the species Calamagrostis acutiflora. This grass originates in Europe and parts of Asia. 'Overdam' was selected in the Netherlands as an ornamental grass for its striking foliage colours. The plant belongs to the grass family Poaceae.

Characteristics
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Overdam' is an upright ornamental grass that can reach a height of approximately 120 cm. The leaves are narrow, grey-green with a striking white or creamy-white edge. In summer, narrow, feathery flower spikes appear, turning from purple-brown to straw yellow as the season progresses. The plant retains its structure well into winter. This cultivar is deciduous.

Care
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Overdam' thrives best in moist to dry, well-drained soils. A spot in full sun or partial shade is suitable. The plant is hardy and withstands various weather conditions. At the end of winter, old growth should be cut back to make way for new shoots. Fertilising is generally not necessary for healthy growth.
