Origin
Carex morrowii is an ornamental grass native to Japan. The species naturally grows in moist forests and along riverbanks. It belongs to the sedge family (Cyperaceae). In Europe, Carex morrowii is often planted as ground cover or as a border plant.
Characteristics
Carex morrowii has a clump-forming habit and features narrow, arching leaves. The leaves are usually dark green, often with a light or white-variegated edge depending on the variety. The plant typically reaches a height of 30 to 40 centimetres. In spring, it produces inconspicuous brown or yellow-green flower spikes.
Care
Carex morrowii thrives best in moist, well-drained soil. The plant tolerates both sun and partial shade. Regular watering promotes healthy growth. To keep the clump compact, dead or unsightly leaves can be removed.
