Origin
Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Pendula' is native to the western regions of North America. The species belongs to the cypress family (Cupressaceae). In the wild, this tree mainly grows in coastal and mountainous areas. The 'Pendula' cultivar was selected for its strikingly weeping habit and is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree.

Characteristics
Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Pendula' is a medium-sized, evergreen conifer with a narrowly upright growth habit and elegantly drooping branches. The leaves are scale-shaped, soft in texture, and dark to blue-green in colour. The bark is grey-brown and slightly furrowed. This cultivar typically reaches a height of 6 to 10 metres, with a width of about 1 to 2 metres. The crown is narrow, and the top tends to have a notably pendulous appearance.

Care
This conifer thrives best in moist, well-drained soil. Locations in full sun or partial shade are suitable. Regular watering is important, especially during dry periods. The plant is very hardy. Mature specimens generally require little to no pruning.
