Origin
Cedrus deodara 'Feelin' Blue' is an ornamental cultivar of the Himalayan cedar. The species Cedrus deodara originates from the mountainous regions of the western Himalayas. 'Feelin' Blue' was developed through selection and breeding to obtain specific traits. This cultivar has been known in the European horticultural sector since the 1990s.
Characteristics
Cedrus deodara 'Feelin' Blue' has a strikingly trailing, ground-covering growth habit. The needles are blue-green in colour and are densely packed along the shoots. When mature, the plant typically reaches a height of 60 to 100 centimetres and can spread up to 2.5 metres wide. Over time, the tree forms a dense, broad shrub with elegant, pendulous branches.
Care
Cedrus deodara 'Feelin' Blue' grows best in well-drained, fertile soil. The plant prefers a position in full sun to partial shade. Shelter from strong winds can encourage the development of a compact form. Moderate watering is sufficient; prolonged wet or waterlogged soil should be avoided.
