Origin
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Wisselii' is a cultivar of the Lawson cypress. The species originates from the western part of North America. 'Wisselii' was developed through selection within the species and is widely planted in Europe. This conifer is mainly cultivated as an ornamental tree in gardens and parks.
Characteristics
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Wisselii' has a narrow, upright, columnar growth habit. The needles are blue-green in colour and are closely arranged along the twigs. The bark is grey-brown and peels off in mature specimens. The cones are small and spherical, with a diameter of around 1 cm.
Care
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Wisselii' grows best in moist, well-drained soil. The plant tolerates partial shade but grows optimally in full sun. Regular pruning is possible to maintain its shape. The plant is fully hardy and well resistant to cold temperatures.
