Origin
Carex brunnea ‘Jenneke’ belongs to the genus Carex in the sedge family. The species Carex brunnea originates from parts of Asia and Australia. The cultivar ‘Jenneke’ has been selected for its distinctive leaf colour. In Europe, this ornamental grass-like plant is mainly used as a garden plant.

Characteristics
Carex brunnea ‘Jenneke’ is a compact, evergreen plant with a clump-forming growth habit. The leaves are narrow, long and glossy, with a striking light yellow to cream-yellow edge. The plant usually reaches a height of about 30 to 40 centimetres. In summer, inconspicuous brown flower spikes may appear.

Care
Carex brunnea ‘Jenneke’ grows best in a position with partial shade to shade. The plant prefers moist to moisture-retentive, well-draining soil. Regular watering promotes healthy growth. Rejuvenation of the clump can be carried out by dividing the plant in spring.
