Origin
Alcea rosea 'Chater's Double' mix belongs to the Malvaceae family. The species originally comes from Asia and the Middle East. Over time, it was introduced to Europe as an ornamental plant. The 'Chater's Double' variety was bred for its striking double flowers.

Characteristics
The 'Chater's Double' mix includes a range of colours, such as red, pink, yellow and white. The flowers are large, double and arranged in dense clusters along the tall stems. Flowering usually takes place in the summer months, from June to August. The plant can reach a height of 150 to 200 centimetres. The leaves are coarse, slightly hairy and dark green in colour.

Care
Alcea rosea 'Chater's Double' grows best in a sunny position. A moist but well-drained soil is well tolerated. The plant is biennial or a short-lived perennial. Regular removal of faded flowers will encourage further blooming. Moderate feeding is sufficient to support healthy growth.
