Origin
Abies procera 'Glauca' is a cultivar of the noble fir, originally from the western region of North America. In the wild, the species mainly grows along the coastal areas of the United States, especially in Washington and Oregon. This conifer has been introduced to Europe as an ornamental tree. The ‘Glauca’ cultivar is characterised by its striking blue-grey needles.

Characteristics
Abies procera 'Glauca' is a medium to large conifer with a conical, upright growth habit. The needles are stiff, short, blue-grey and are arranged around the branches. The bark is smooth and grey on young trees, later becoming rough and flaky. In autumn, upright cylindrical cones appear, ranging in colour from purple to brown. This species can reach a height of 15 to 20 metres, but as a cultivar it often remains smaller.

Care
Abies procera 'Glauca' grows best in a sunny position with well-drained, moist soil. The plant does not tolerate prolonged drought or waterlogged conditions. Regular inspection for aphids and fungal diseases is recommended. This conifer is hardy and resistant to air pollution. Pruning is generally not necessary.
