Origin
Hydrangea paniculata 'Diamant Rouge' is a cultivar of the panicle hydrangea, originally native to East Asia. This particular variety was bred in France by Jean Renault. The cultivar was developed by selecting for its unique colour and flower form. Panicle hydrangeas are widely used as ornamental garden plants across Europe and North America.
Characteristics
Hydrangea paniculata 'Diamant Rouge' is distinguished by its striking, cone-shaped flower panicles, which change colour from white to deep red over the summer. The plant has an upright growth habit and reaches a height of approximately 1.2 to 1.5 metres. Flowering occurs from June to September. The green foliage turns yellow in autumn. The robust branches support the large, dense flower panicles well.
Care
Hydrangea paniculata 'Diamant Rouge' grows best in a sunny to partially shaded position. The plant prefers fertile, well-draining soil. Regular pruning at the end of winter promotes a compact shape and abundant flowering. Ensure sufficient watering during dry spells. The plant is reliably hardy in temperate climates.
