Origin
Ballota pseudodictamnus is a plant species native to the Mediterranean region. The species is naturally found in countries such as Greece, Turkey, and parts of North Africa. Ballota pseudodictamnus belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae).
Characteristics
Ballota pseudodictamnus is an evergreen, compact subshrub that generally reaches a height of 30 to 50 centimetres. The plant has small, round, grey-white leaves with a felted, hairy texture. The stems are often densely covered with hairs and have a greyish colour. In summer, small, tubular, pale pink to purple flowers appear in successive whorls along the stems.
Care
Ballota pseudodictamnus grows best in a sunny position with well-drained, dry soil. The plant is drought-tolerant and rarely needs additional watering. A soil rich in lime encourages growth. Pruning can take place after flowering to maintain a compact shape.
