Origin
Anemone 'Honorine Jobert' is a cultivar of the autumn-flowering anemone (Anemone × hybrida). The plant was first cultivated in France around 1858 and originated from a spontaneous mutation. This species belongs to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). The plant is recognised internationally as a classic garden plant.
Characteristics
Anemone 'Honorine Jobert' is a perennial which flowers from August to October. The flower is white with a yellow centre and is approximately 5 cm in diameter. The plant has elegant, upright stems and reaches a height of 90 to 120 cm. The leaves are deeply cut and dark green in colour. This species is one of the late-flowering anemones.
Care
The plant thrives best in humus-rich, well-draining soil. A position in partial shade is optimal, but full sun is also tolerated, provided the soil remains moist. It is advisable not to disturb the roots, as the plant is sensitive to being moved. For healthy growth, regular watering during dry periods is necessary. In a mild winter, the foliage often remains partly green.
