Origin
The Aglaonema 'Princess', better known as the Chinese Evergreen, has its origin in the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia. The plant is particularly prevalent in the forests of Southeast Asia. The Aglaonema is a member of the Araceae, also known as the Arum family.

Characteristics
Aglaonema 'Princess' is a highly decorative plant, recognisable by its shiny, dark green leaves with silvery spots. The leaves are elliptical in shape and the plant reaches an average height of 50-60 centimetres. Although it is a slowly growing plant, the Aglaonema 'Princess' is quite robust and can live for hundreds of years under favourable conditions.

Care
Aglaonema 'Princess' requires little light, making it an ideal houseplant. However, bright sunlight should be avoided as this can burn the leaves. The plant is also sensitive to cold; the temperature in which the plant is kept should not fall below 15 degrees Celsius. The plant prefers evenly moist soil, but also tolerates periods of drought. Overwatering can cause root rot and should therefore be avoided.
