Origin
The Aglaonema 'Red Zircon', is of Asian origin, specifically the humid tropical forests. Its natural habitat extends over countries in the Far East, including Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. The plant originally flourished in the dense low undergrowth of the jungle, out of the reach of direct sunlight.
Characteristics
Belonging to the family of Araceae, the Aglaonema 'Red Zircon' is characterised by its striking red and green leaves. This plant is versatile and varies in size, but generally reaches a maximum height of about 50 cm. The leaf is broad and oval-shaped, with each leaf blade varying from a deep emerald green to almost pure red.
Care
Although the Aglaonema 'Red Zircon' is relatively simple to care for, there are a few factors to keep in mind. The plant prefers a warm, humid environment and sufficient indirect light, but can also survive in less bright conditions. Regular watering is necessary, however, avoid excessive watering to prevent root rot. Fertilisation is recommended during the growth period in order to support the abundant leaf production.
