Origin
Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra' 6/tray, also known as the flamingo flower, has its roots in tropical South America. Here, the plant grows in the humid, shady rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador. The plant is named after the French botanist Edouard Francois André who discovered the species during his expeditions in the 19th century.

Characteristics
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra' is characterised by its glossy, heart-shaped leaves and its striking flowers. The flowers can vary from bright red to pink, and some variants even produce white or purple flowers. The plant is long-lived and blooms all year round, with a peak in the summer months. A unique feature of the plant is the long, comic-like spadix that protrudes from the middle of the flower.

Care
Anthurium Andraeanum 'Sierra' has specific care requirements as a houseplant. It needs high humidity, which can be reproduced by regularly spraying the plant with water. At the same time, the plant needs light, but indirect sunshine, as direct sunlight can burn the leaves. The soil must be well-draining to prevent root rot and the plant needs a constant temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius all year round.
