The Areca catechu dwarf, commonly known as the dwarf palm, originates from the Philippines and the southeastern part of Asia. In the tradition of the original inhabitants, this type of palm plays a significant role because of its economical value and alleged medicinal properties.

This ornamental palm can reach a height of 6 to 7 meters, although it stays considerably smaller when grown in pot culture. It possesses feathery, green leaves that form an elegant fan at the top of the trunk. In addition, the palm carries small, yellow flowers that later grow into orange to red fruits.
Care

The palm needs a warm environment and plenty of light, but direct sunlight should be avoided. The soil in which the palm grows, must be well-drained and watering should be moderate, it is important that the soil largely dries out between watering.
