Origin
The Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum', more commonly known as the variegated spider plant, originates from South Africa. Here it grows in the wild in forested and grassy areas. The plant is often found in the southeastern provinces, from Eastern Cape to KwaZulu-Natal. Because of its beauty and easy care, it has become popular worldwide and is found in many homes and offices.

Characteristics
The Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum' is characterized by its green leaves with white edges, from which it gets its nickname 'variegated'. The plant reaches a height of about 20-60 centimetres. The graceful, hanging growth of the plant and its ability to improve air quality are additional distinguishing characteristics. In addition, the plant is known for its special growth pattern, forming new plants via runners, which can then easily be detached and repotted.

Care
Caring for the Chlorophytum comosum 'Variegatum' requires little effort. The plant likes a light location, but can also grow in partial shade. It needs regular, but not too much water - it is better to keep it slightly dry than too wet. Giving some plant food every two weeks is sufficient for optimal growth. The plant cannot tolerate frost and performs best at normal room temperatures.
